Today, my Dad would have turned 58 years old, but in June of this year God chose to take him home to heaven. A bit too soon for our family, but in God's time nonetheless. To honor my dad on his birthday I would like to share a few things about him. My dad was not a man of many words or a big talker, but when he did speak you knew it was words of wisdom that you would hear. He was very calm and he had a special way of making you feel like everything was o.k. Life wasn't always easy for him, but he rarely complained. Even through his battle with cancer, you rarely heard him speak about how bad he really felt. The last 10 months of his life were special to our family as he spoke with each of us and told us how much he loved us and how proud he was of us. I think about my dad everyday. Little things will trigger a memory or remind me of him. We all miss him very much and sometimes can't believe he is really gone. One thing God has taught us through this experience is to appreciate your family and stay close to them. God has only given them to you for a certain time. Our greatest comfort in losing my dad is to know that he is enjoying heaven for eternity. As much as we would love to spend a few more minutes with him here on earth, we know that we will see him one day in heaven and that will be far greater. December 30th will always be my Dad's birthday and I will always be reminded of what a great dad he was.

Excellent tribute! It is a good reminder to all of us to treasure the time we have together as well as give our family great memories to hold onto. You were truly blessed with a believing father so that you have the hope of seeing him again someday. What a great thing that is.
